Sun Tech Days opens to a fabulous start in India
The 7th edition of the India leg of Sun Tech Days kicked off in Hyderabad in India on February 27, 2008. More than 4000 participants who had registered on Day 1 made a beeline for the giant convention hall which seemed dwarfed by the huge crowd to listen to the keynote session by Rich Green, Executive Vice President, Sun Microsystems.
Incidently it is Rich's second consecutive visit to India for Sun Tech Days and by his own admission, he was bowled over not just by the magnitude and scale of the event but also by the creativity, passion and the knowledge levels of the vibrant developer community here in India.
Meet the Code For Freedom Contest participants
Ajeesh Rao is a participant in the recently announced Code For Freedom Contest that has received a great feedback and participation from the Indian student community. Ajeesh is currently pursuing final year M.Tech (Computer Science & Engg.) in VTU university, study centre PESIT, Bangalore. Ajeesh’s current area of interest is Operating systems and he loves to spend time on his laptop searching for new open source software and playing with them.

Meet the Code For Freedom Contest participants
Amit Kumar Saha is a participant in the recently announced Code For Freedom Contest. A final year computer science & engineering undergraduate at Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia, West Bengal, India, Amit keeps himself busy with a variety of activities. He is a freelance technical writer and has written articles on various programming tools/technologies for print & online magazines. He also contributes to OpenOffice.org project and is working on ODF Toolkit for Java since April 2007. Further, he also contributes to a couple of open source documentation projects such as NetBeans Community Docs and Open MPI Docs. Meet the 2007 JavaJive Champions
A team of three students from the Diploma in Mobile and Wireless Computing jived their way to clinch the TOP position at the JavaJive Challenge Sun Developer Day on 18 July 2007. Darren Ang Chin Yang, Goh Chew Yan and Serene Tan Xue Ying, Senior students of the Diploma in Mobile and Wireless Computing clinched this award with their project jWatch. The students created an application that allows people to watch videos on the go’ using a wifi-enabled phone anywhere in the world. The second set of winners were from the group Papparazzi consisting of Xu Ken Ying, Edison Chen, Scott Tan, Chong Zheng Long who developed an application that will allow everyone to contribute through GPS technology.
