How To Create A Data Source Name (DSN)

This topic tells you how to create a Data Source Name (DSN). Detailed information about this subject can also be found in Chapters 3 and 4 of the Sun ONE Active Server Pages documentation (syntax for DSN-less connection strings can be found in Chapter 4).

Note: The first few steps of this procedure are performed for all database types. The last step of this procedure takes you to instructions that are specific to each database type.

To create a Data Source Name (DSN)
1. Use a Web browser to log into ASP Server Management running on port 5100 ( http://server.ip:5100/ ), and then provide the appropriate admin user and password information.

2. Click Databases .

3. Click Add new DSN .

4. Select a database type in the Database type drop-down box on the Data Source Names tab. (To continue with this procedure and access steps that are specific to your database type, select a database type in the list below.)
