The SHWP OEM Platform Publishing and Porting Services ensure the
compatibility of hardware systems and the Solaris Operating Environment
on SPARC and Intel systems.
Sun's Solaris Hardware Partners (SHWP) Program provides services to
assist system manufacturers in developing and distributing binaries to
support their hardware requirements.Through SHWP OEM services,
SPARC and Intel system manufacturers develop their platform
software in parallel with releases of the Solaris Operating Environment, ensuring compatibility
while reducing overall time-to-market for new products and product updates.

Requirements for authorization and eligibility to use the Solaris
Compatible Logo:
- A choice of one or more services:
- SHWP OEM Platform Publishing and Porting Agreement (the
ability to port the Solaris Operating Environment at the lowest
level that enables a processor or HW implementation variant
and also authorizes the ability to publish in releases of the Solaris
Operating Environment.
- SHWP OEM Platform Verification Agreement (Conformance and Verification testing of platform system configuration with the current Solaris release).
- A Reference Configuration model service enables a customer to
have more than one platform system configuration verified to
establish a baseline platform system architecture. This will
allow the flexibility of a model or series of system configurations
that are verified conformant and compatible with the Solaris
Operating Environment.
- Custom Configuration models: SHWP OEM Platform Custom
Services for customers desiring special engineering solutions
that require support to enable the SOE to work with specific
processor or hardware implementation variant. The cost for these
solutions are determined by the scope of effort and resources
required as evaluated by the SHWP OEM Technical Account Manager
and SHWP OEM Business Development Manager. (Solaris Consulting
and Engineering Services Agreement)
Customer will deliver to Sun the specific platform system
configuration(s) they desire to have tested and any other
materials as necessary to SHWP OEM before testing commences.
SHWP OEM will provide a summary report of the results after
testing is completed. Customer will be responsible for providing
hardware support for the platform system configuration during
Conformance and Verification testing.
- The platform system configuration becomes a supported product
within Developer Technical Support after successful Conformance
and Verification testing.
- Developer Technical Support Agreement (Developer Access Plus, Binary
for Publishing or reference configurations. For Porting you
will need the Source Support Agreement).
- Solaris Compatible Logo Agreement (SCLA):
SCL is authorized for use after the successful completion
of Conformance and Verification testing of a specific system
or platform configuration. Once Conformance and Verification
testing has been completed and successfully passed, Customer
will need to sign the Solaris Compatibility Logo Agreement.
The Agreement is good for one year from the test completion date.
Upon successful completion of SHWP OEM Testing.
