Sun Master Data Management SuiteThe Master Data Management Suite (MDM Suite) combines the features of several Sun products and tools to provide a unified approach solving data management problems. The MDM Suite accurately identifies, cleanses, and matches information about the entities in your organization. Typically, this information is stored in multiple disparate systems. The MDM Suite is based on the solid foundation of the Sun Java Composite Application Suite (Java CAPS) and leverages other Sun products to provide a complete MDM solution. The MDM Suite creates a centralized view of the best information for each entity though standardization, matching, merging, and deduplication of data. The suite provides an integrated, consistent view of master data using your existing systems, data, and applications. The primary components of the MDM Suite are: Sun Master Index – Sun Master Index provides a flexible framework for you to create matching and indexing applications that uniquely identify and cross-reference the business objects stored in your system databases. Sun Data Integrator – Sun Data Integrator provides extract, transform, and load (ETL) capability and supports a wide variety of data sources, including relational databases, flat files, spreadsheets, XML, and newer sources like HTML tables and RSS feeds. Master Index Match Engine – The Master Index Match Engine uses a configurable matching algorithm to provide probabilistic matching between the records in your data set. Master Index Standardization Engine – The Master Index Standardization Engine uses configurable logic to parse, normalize, and phonetically encode complex data sets for more accurate matching and deduplication. Data Profiler – The Data Profiler performs frequency analyses on the data values and patterns in your existing data to help you detect invalid values and formats and to determine how the data needs to be cleansed prior to loading. Data Cleanser – The Data Cleanser validates and modifies bulk data prior to matching and loading. The Data Cleanser also standardizes data based on the rules defined for the master index application. Initial Bulk Match and Load Tool (IBML) – The IBML tool gives you the ability to match and load a large volume of legacy data into a new master index database. It also provides match analysis tools to help you fine-tune the matching logic. The suite also includes Sun Enterprise Service Bus software, Sun BPM, and Sun Adapters. Additional Sun products, such as Sun Java System Access Manager and Sun Directory Server, provide authorization and identity management features.
