Changing the Length of Time a Tooltip Displays

By default, tooltips are set to display for six seconds. You can change the length of time that tooltips display in the Options window.

• Note: If a tooltip disappears before you can read it, try moving your mouse a little while it is displaying. If you keep the mouse over the area that the tooltip describes while moving the mouse slightly, the tooltip should continue to display.

To change the length of time a tooltip displays:

1. From the main menu, choose Tools > Options.
    
   
2. In the Options window, select the Basic radio button.
    
   
3. Under the General Settings node, click System Settings.
    
   
4. In the list of options on the right side of the window, select Tool Tips Dismissal Display.
    
   
5. The default value is 6000 milliseconds, or six seconds. Click the value to change the length of time the tooltip displays.
    
   For example, to change the display time to ten seconds, enter 10000.
    
   
6. Click Close.
