Introducing the IDE

The Java Studio Creator integrated development environment (the IDE) helps you to build web applications using Java technology. The IDE includes the Java 2 Software Development Kit, Standard Edition; the Sun Java^TM System Application Server Platform Edition 8.2 for deployment; and a bundled database for running the included samples and tutorials or for building your own applications. To learn how to use the IDE:

• Step through the web tutorials at the following web page:

• Press F1 in the IDE to receive information about your current task or choose View > Dynamic Help and use the links to help topics that are listed in the Dynamic Help window.
   
  
• Choose Help > Help Contents and browse through the help topics:
  • To learn conceptual information, read the About topics. A good place to start is with About Web Applications or About Projects.
     
    
  • To see detailed steps for performing each major task, read the Working With topics. The best one to start with is Working With Web Applications.
     
    
  • To see all the tasks you can perform for each step in the development process, read the Tasks: Quick Reference topics. These topics list all the tasks in alphabetical order in a table. For example, for projects see Project Tasks: Quick Reference.
