Adding a Data Source

See Also | Tutorials

Before you can work with a database in the IDE, add it as a data source to the Servers window. To add a data source, you specify the location and connection information. Once you create a data source, you can also create data source aliases to point to it.

To add a data source to the Servers window:

  1. In the Servers window, right-click the Data Sources node and choose Add Data Source.

  2. In the Add Data Source dialog box, specify the database information.

  3. Click Test Connection to verify that the information was entered correctly.

  4. Click Add.

The data source and its contents appear in the Data Sources node in the Servers window.
