This panel of the the Style Editor enables you to add margin- and padding-related cascading style sheet (CSS) declarations to the style property of a JavaServer Faces component. The declarations you add to the style property override corresponding CSS rules defined in the page's CSS file.

The Margin panel is a grid that enables you to set the margin and padding around the entire component (All), or separately for the top, the bottom, the left side, or the right side. The CSS properties that can be set when you chose these options are margin, margin-top, margin-bottom, margin-left, margin-right, padding, padding-top, padding-bottom, padding-left, and padding-right.

Here's what margin and padding do:

Margin. Controls the amount of space between the boundaries of this component and the boundaries of any adjacent components. The space created is outside the component's boundary.
Padding. Controls the amount of space inside the component's bounding box between the edge of the bounding box and the contents of the component. The space created is inside the component's boundary.
