The Deployment Server node 
in
the
Servers window
represents an installation of Sun JavaTM
System Application Server Platform Edition 8.1ur2 (the Application
Server). This web and application server is installed for you
by the IDE's installation program.
- If you right-click this node to open the pop-up menu,
you can
perform the following tasks:
- Start this instance of the Application Server.
- Stop the server.
- Refresh the server.
- Show the server's administration console.
This option is active only if the server is running. It starts the administration console in a web browser and prompts for the administrator login (defaults to admin) and password (defaults to adminadmin)
- Show the server's log file, which is available if you have ever run the server.
- View the server's properties, two of which are the server
administrator's login name and the encoded password (which,
by default, are admin and adminadmin).
- Start this instance of the Application Server.
- If the server is running, you can expand the node
and see the server's deployed components and resources.
After starting the Application Server, you can configure it and control it from the following URL:
http://localhost:24848/asadmin
The Application Server is typically installed in the SunAppServer8 subdirectory of the Java Studio Creator installation directory. Open the QuickStart.html file, which is in the docs subdirectory of the Application Server's installation directory, for getting started information about the server. On a Microsoft Windows system, a typical location for this file is:
install-directory\SunAppServer8\docs\QuickStart.html
- Note: The IDE does not shut down the Application Server when
you exit the IDE. If you want to shut down the server, right-click this node and choose Stop Server.
It is possible that a process named imqbrokersvc will be left running after you shut down the server. You can safely stop this process yourself (for example, in Microsoft Windows from the Task Manager's Processes tab). The process does terminate if you reboot the machine.
