Q: What is DukeDollars?
A: The Duke Dollars program is Sun's way of thanking our developers who actively
participate in the forums and help facilitate the exchange of technical
knowledge in the community. Forum users can earn Duke Dollars by answering
questions from fellow developers. The forum user from each forum category with
the highest number of Duke Dollars each month gets a gift from Sun Developer
Network. Of those developers, one will be chosen each month to be profiled on
developers.sun.com.
Q: Why Should I Participate?
A: Offering Duke Dollars to other forum members incents them to answer your
questions.
You can win prizes from Sun by having the highest number of Duke Dollars each
month.
Q: How Can I Join?
A: You are automatically enrolled in the Duke Dollars program when you log-in to
the SDN forums for the first time. New users are granted 30 Duke Dollars when
they first login to any of Sun Developer forums.
Q: How Does It Work?
A: Duke Dollars are typically offered on a forum thread when the original author of
the thread wants to encourage active participation and solicit timely answers to
their questions.
- Not every forum posting or thread will offer the opportunity to
earn Duke Dollars.
- When a user starts a new thread, he has the option to offer up to 10 Duke
Dollars to respondents.
- Forums users earn Duke Dollars for their own account by responding to threads
that offer Duke Dollars as rewards.
- The thread author determines which response merits the reward, and has full discretion over which respondent is awarded the
Duke Dollars.
- The thread author can split the Duke Dollars amongst the posters whose answers
he found most helpful, but cannot award himself.
- The forums user that earns the most Duke Dollars each month receives a gift from
Sun Developer Network.
Q: How Do I Assign Duke Dollars to a Question?
A:- In the forum you want to post a question, click on "Post New Topic".
- Type in the question and click on "Post".
- Assign Duke Dollars to the question by clicking on the "Assign Duke Dollars"
link.
- Choose the Duke Dollars amount you want to award between 1 and 10.
- Your question has now been posted with a Duke icon next to it.
Q: How Do I Award Duke Dollars to a User?
A: Once your question has an answer you have the option to award the user by
clicking on the Duke .
- Choose the Duke Dollars amount you want to reward.
- You can either award the full amount to one user or award multiple users who replied to your question.
- Follow steps 1 and 2 to award to multiple users.
- After all the Duke Dollars you
assigned to the question have been awarded, the question will no longer have a
Duke icon next to it.
Q: Where Do I Go If I Have A Question?
