May 2006 [Revision number: V2.1-1]

This tutorial shows how to download the sample BluePrints Ajax Component modules from the Sun Java Studio Creator Update Center and import the modules into the IDE.

The sample Java BluePrints Ajax components are provided to help you learn about Ajax and to show how Ajax fits with the Java Studio Creator IDE. For an introduction to the Ajax technology, see Ajax and Sun Java Studio Creator 2.

Importing the Ajax Modules Into the IDE
  1. From the IDE's main menu, choose Tools > Component Library Manager.

  2. In the Component Library Manager, click the Import button, which is in the lower left corner of the dialog box.

  3. In the Import Component Library dialog box, click the Browse button.

  4. In the Open dialog box, select the ui.complib file, and click Open. If you are using the Sun Java Studio Creator 2 IDE, you must navigate to install-directory\nb4.1\samples\complib, where install-directory is the location of your Java Studio Creator installation.

The ui.complib path and BluePrints Ajax components appear in the Import Component Library dialog box, similar to the following figure.

  5. Click OK.

If you have installed an earlier version of the BluePrints Ajax Components, the IDE displays a dialog box asking whether you want to overwrite the component library. Click Yes.

  6. Click Close in the Component Library Manager to return to the IDE.

The BluePrints Ajax Components and BluePrints Ajax Support Beans categories are added to the Palette. If you expand both categories, you'll see the nodes shown in the following figure.

Note: If you have a project that uses an earlier version of the components, you can force the project to use the newer libraries by dropping a BluePrints Ajax component on a page in the project. Remove the component, then close and reopen the project.
