Java API for XML Web Services (JAX-WS) 2.0
TS-1194

Presenter: Rajiv Mordani, Doug Kohler, and Roberto Chinnici, Sun Microsystems, Inc

Java API for XML Web Services (JAX-WS) 2.0 takes web services support in the Java platform to the next level. In this session, the specification leads for this technology guide you through a tour of the new features in JAX-WS 2.0, showing how they will affect the applications you write.

A successor to Java API for XML-based RPC (JAX-RPC) 1.1, a standard component in the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) 1.4, JAX-WS 2.0 expands support for web services development, by adding new features such as asynchronous clients; protocol and transport independence; messaging; REST-style web services; and web services hosted on Java Platform, Standard Edition.

New ease-of-development features make implementing web services significantly easier than before. Working in conjunction with Java Architecture for XML Binding (JAXB) 2.0, JAX-WS 2.0 provides complete support for document-oriented web services and the XML Schema standard. JAX-WS 2.0 also includes support for the latest web services standards from the World Wide Web Consortium, namely SOAP 1.2 and MTOM/XOP.
