Pump Up Your Technical Knowledge
Listen and watch as industry luminaries bring you the latest on Java technologies
The Service Component Architecture (SCA) provides a standardized model and syntax for assembling applications comprising a variety of technologies in a service-oriented architecture (SOA). The Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE platform) is the industry standard for developing enterprise applications on the Java platform and embraces a rich set of technologies reaching from web application development over persistence solutions to messaging APIs. Java EE technology-based servers have achieved a high level of maturity and acceptance from developers as well as users. In contrast to the Java EE platform, the SCA assembly model is language-independent and extensible: An SCA assembly can contain a variety of standard or vendor-specific implementation types and protocol bindings. The SCA working group is defining an integration model for SCA with Java EE technology that will bring the rich assembly and communication paradigms to the Java EE technology space while protecting existing investments in this space. SCA is not about replacing existing environments (such as the Java EE application environment) but about creating an infrastructure in which applications can cross the boundaries between different programming technologies in these environments. This presentation shows how Java EE technology-based applications can be extended by additional implementation technologies and how cross-application assembly can be implemented by use of SCA. Attendees should have a good knowledge of the Java EE platform and a basic understanding of SCA. |
