D-I-Y (Diagnose-It-Yourself): Adaptive Monitoring for Sun Java
TS-5716

Presenter: Carlos Lucasius, Sun Microsystems, Inc.; Frederic Parain, Sun Microsystems, Inc.

Debugging real-time applications can be really difficult. New tool support in Sun Java Real-Time System, including dTrace probes and enhanced troubleshooting tools, helps with the challenge. This session covers the new Java Real-Time System tool support, with a focus on how these tools can be easily deployed to diagnose problems. The presentation illustrates how dTrace can be used with Java Real-Time System to easily create custom diagnostics such as analysis of scheduling and worst-case execution times without an impact on determinism. A demo helps highlight the range of diagnostics now available, including visualization of thread execution and speculative tracing for dumping data-only error cases.
