http://developer.nextel.com |
| If relevant, describe different certification types/levels: |
Designed specifically for J2ME developers, the Application Developer opportunity helps to guide the developer through the product testing and marketing activities required to successfully bring a software application to market. Through the Nextel/Motorola Wireless Certification Program, J2ME applications completing the process may be distributed for sale via the Nextel/Motorola iDEN Update Web site.
Developers who successfully launch an application automatically become Certified Application Developers in the Developer Program.
|
| Please describe full certification process (include forms that need to be filled out by developer): |
Developers interested in the certification program should visit http://developer.nextel.com to complete the Application Certification Form. The J2ME team will review your application and respond with level of interest and next steps within 3 weeks. To submit an application for testing, developers must include:
- Pre-tested JAD and JAR files
- Developer Questionnaire
- User Guide
- Traffic Flow Template (network aware applications only)
Incoming applications must successfully complete a trademark search prior to testing. Applications are submitted for AV&V testing on the 1st and 15th of each month. Testing is completed within 2-4 weeks from the date of submission.
Following successful completion of testing, the application is loaded to the distribution server and the vendor setup process begins. Once complete, the application is posted for sale to iDEN Update, at http://www.nextel.com/idenupdate.
Questions may be addressed to j2me_applications@nextel.com.
|
| Cost to developer for application certification: |
There is no certification cost for developers certifying their applications through Nextel. However, once certified, applications that are sold on iDEN Update are subject to a standard 80-10-10 net revenue share agreement, where the developer receives 80%, Nextel 10%, and Motorola 10%.
