Here's what you need to know to download and install tools, and develop and deploy web applications:

  1. Download Sun Java System Web Server and the PHP Add-On An already-compiled PHP binary for use with Sun Java System Web Server 7.0 and newer is available on the Web Server download page. More on Web Tier.
  2. Install and Use PHP with Web Server Here's an installation demo, and administration server information on how to save password information. Learn how to use PHP on the Sun Java System Web Server. You may also want to download the Web Server Administrator's Guide. And here's the complete set of documentation.
  3. Install Sun Web Stack on OpenSolaris OS. Sun Web Stack contains tools (Apache, MySQL, PHP, NetBeans IDE, and others) for developing and deploying applications. This article describes how to install and initialize the stack.
