9. Configuration File
The file escd.rf is used to hold the configuration. This file, which is based on the Extended System Configuration Data (ESCD) format, only stores the ISA devices found by scanning and those devices that were added manually. All other devices are always enumerated at boot. The probe-always BEFs are always run to detect standard devices. Thus, if a user adds PCI cards or changes the mouse device, then no interrupt of the autoboot is necessary.
