Get the Solaris Express Developer Edition

The Solaris Express Developer Edition is OpenSolaris-based developer environment for the x86 platform. It comes with integrated developer tools, an updated GNOME Desktop System, and some of the most popular free and open source software packages available. You can download it or order a DVD kit for free.

Developers on SPARC systems can obtain similar functionality by downloading the latest Solaris Express Community Edition build 64a (DVD) or (CD) and installing Sun Studio and NetBeans IDE 5.5 with NetBeans Enterprise Pack 5.5.

Future Solaris Express Developer Edition releases will include support for both x86 and SPARC platforms. VMware for Solaris Express Developer Edition is also available. The Solaris 10 OS is the perfect deployment platform.

The Solaris 10 Operating System comes with integrated developer tools, integrated Sun Java Enterprise System components, the Sun Java Desktop System, and some of the most popular free and open source software packages. The OpenSolaris Project is the open source counterpart to the Solaris 10 OS and is geared toward developers who want to improve the operating system.

Get Sun Studio

Sun Studio software comes with high-performance compilers for developing C, C++, and Fortran applications for the Solaris OS on SPARC and x86 platforms. It also includes command-line tools and an integrated development environment (IDE) for program performance analysis and debugging mixed C, C++, and Java technology-based applications. This compatible code development environment includes source compatibility with gcc, Visual C++, C99, OpenMP, and Fortran 2003.
