Solaris 10 University Challenge Contest
The Solaris University Challenge is a contest serving as a showcase for the innovation and talent of students worldwide who created projects with the free and open source Solaris Operating System. A panel of experts judged submissions on usability, quality, innovation, effective use of technology, and benefits to Solaris OS users and the OpenSolaris OS community. The 2006 winner is Sergej Alekseev of Oldenburg University.

Sun Academic Initiative (SAI)
SAI is a program designed to create a collaborative relationship between Sun and academic institutions. As part of this program, non-profit institutions become authorized to deliver training on Sun technologies to their faculty, staff, and students. In addition, faculty, staff, and students can obtain free access to selected online courses through the Sun Learning Center.
