Tools, CoolTools for SPARC - Solaris Developer Center

		CoolTools for SPARC Cool Tools are tools related to porting or performance optimization in support of OpenSPARC. Cool Tools can work together to support the stages of porting, building, tuning, and debugging an application. The following tools are included. Add-on Cool Tools available for Sun Studio 11 are noted.

ATS
Automatic Tuning and Troubleshooting System (ATS) is a binary reoptimization and recompilation tool that can be used for tuning and troubleshooting applications. Add-on available for Sun Studio 11.

BIT
Binary Improvement Tool (BIT) works directly with SPARC binaries to instrument, optimize, and analyze them for performance or code coverage. Add-on available for Sun Studio 11.

Faban
Faban is the consolidation of benchmark development and management knowledge and experience. It is a facility for developing and running benchmarks. It has two major components, the Faban harness and the Faban driver framework.

GCC for SPARC.. Systems
C/C++ compiler that dramatically improves the performance of applications that are normally compiled with gcc on SPARC systems.

SPOT
# Simple performance optimizations tool (SPOT), produces a report on the performance of an application. The spot report contains detailed information about various common conditions that impact performance. Add-on available for Sun Studio 11.

Thread Analyzer
This is the Sun Studio Thread Analyzer. After instrumenting your source code using Sun Studio or (GCC for SPARC), you can use it to create an experiment and examine the experiment results, but this will necessitate downloading Sun Studio Express, as it is not available in Sun Studio 11 or as a standalone utility.
