Sun Studio Blogging Contest Frequently Asked Questions


  1. How do I enter the contest?

  2. Post a blog describing your experience using Sun Studio 12 Update 1 or any version of Sun Studio: a tutorial, insight, tech tip, cool code sample, request for enhancements, etc. Your blog must be linked to a comment or trackback made to the Sun Studio Blogging Contest site. Complete the submission form. Entries must be new material and not copied from something already written.


  3. Can I post a blog on my experience with Sun Studio 12 or 11?

  4. Yes, you can certainly post a blog on your experience using any version of Sun Studio.


  5. Do you have suggestions on what to post?

  6. Here are some suggestions:

    • Show a cool code sample using Sun Studio
    • Create a "Top 10" Sun Studio Software Tutorials/Links/Snippets/Tricks
    • Share your deep insight about development using Sun Studio


  7. Will blogs be accepted in all languages?

  8. Blogs will be accepted in English only.


  9. Will blog entries be featured on developers.sun.com/sunstudio?

  10. The blog contest is to encourage users to share their experiences about using Sun Studio software, so we will occasionally feature select blog entries on the Sun Studio web site. However, a submitted blog post that appears on developers.sun.com/sunstudio is not confirmation that the entry has been selected for judging.


  11. What are the prizes?

  12. First Prize: The top 10 winners will receive a $500 American Express Gift Certificate.

    Second Prize: Each of the next top fifty (50) blog entries will receive a 2GB Sun Studio memory stick.


  13. Who are the judges?

  14. All the entries will be judged by a panel of experts on the Sun Studio product team.


  15. What criteria will the judges use to judge the contest?

  16. The panel of experts will judge each entry based on the following equally weighted judging criteria: novelty and originality of the blog entry; usefulness and character of the substantive feedback; the blog's interest and appeal to other users of Sun Studio; clarity in the expression about the user experience; how the blog demonstrates or showcases specific features; and/or the ability to use the blog to improve any aspect of Sun Studio software.


  17. What is the deadline for submissions?

  18. The submission deadline is 11:59 p.m. (PT) on August 14, 2009, which is 6:59 a.m. (GMT) on August 15, 2009.


  19. When will the winners be announced?

  20. Winners will be announced on September 14, 2009. You can view a list of the winners on the Sun Studio web site.


  21. How will the winners be notified?

  22. Winners will be notified via email on or after September 14, 2009.
