Sun Studio Express - February 2008 BuildWhat Is a Sun Studio Express Build? The Sun Studio team offers interim development builds of future Sun
Studio product releases. These builds allow you to preview and provide
feedback on new features and enhancements under development.
Express builds are fully-functional, preview software that focuses on new
features being introduced into the Sun Studio product. The intent is to
collaborate with the developer community by gathering feedback through
the Sun Studio forums and the bug/RFE (request for enhancement)
database.
Feature Highlights in This Express BuildThe Sun Studio IDE is based on NetBeans IDE 6.0. The new features in the
Sun Studio IDE are described in the February
2008 Express README.
Project D-Light has been added to the compilers and tools that are
currently under development for both SPARC and x86 platforms. This new
utility was first included in Sun Studio Express June 2007, and is described in the February
2008 Express README. Using an intuitive drag and drop interface, D-Light provides an
extensible library of instruments that represent the latest advances of
profiling technology, including Solaris Dynamic
Tracing (DTrace). With
instruments like CPU accountant and Sampler, you can use the interactive
GUI to quickly profile and peer into the runtime behavior of your application.
This
release also includes new features in the compilers, assembler, and dbx
debugger, and fixes to bugs reported in previous builds.
