What Is a Sun Studio Express Build?


Sun Studio Express releases focus on new features being introduced into the Sun Studio product. Sun Studio Express 11/08 contains the latest features and enhancements. The intent is to collaborate with the developer community by gathering feedback through the Sun Studio forums and the bug/RFE (request for enhancement) database.
 

Feature Highlights in This Express Build


Available on the OpenSolaris 2008.05, Solaris 10, and Linux (RHEL 5/SuSE 10/Ubuntu 8.04/CentOS 5.1) operating systems, Sun Studio Express 11/08 features:

  • Full OpenMP 3.0 compiler support
  • Enhanced performance analysis of MPI applications
  • Updated IDE based on NetBeans IDE 6.5
  • Remote development and debugging capabilities
  • New stand-alone lightweight GUI debugger, dbxtool
  • Improved performance for Intel x86, AMD x86, UltraSPARC and SPARC64-based systems
