Sun Studio Software in the OpenSolaris Repositories

Several releases of Sun Studio software are available in the OpenSolaris repositories. The following list shows you how to download and install each release, and where you can find the documentation for the release:

• Sun Studio 12 Update 1: The Sun Studio 12 Update 1 release is the latest full production release of Sun Studio software. It has recently been added to the OpenSolaris IPS repository.
  
  To install this release in your OpenSolaris 2009.06 environment using the Package Manager:

1. On your OpenSolaris desktop, click the Add More Software icon or choose System > Administration > Package Manager.
2. In the Package Manager, type studio in the Search field. In the Search results, click the checkbox to select sunstudio12u1, then click Install/Update.

To install this release in your OpenSolaris 2009.06 environment from the command line, type:

    $ pfexec pkg install sunstudio12u1

• Sun Studio Express 3/09: The Sun Studio Express 3/09 release is the official build used for the Sun Studio 12 Update 1 Early Access Program. It is available in the OpenSolaris IPS repository.
  
  To install this release in your 2008.11 environment using the Package Manager:

1. On your OpenSolaris desktop, click the Add More Software icon or choose System > Administration > Package Manager.
2. In the Package Manager, type studio in the Search field. In the Search results, click the checkbox to select sunstudioexpress, then click Install/Update.

To install this release in your OpenSolaris 2008.11 environment from the command line, type:

     $ pfexec pkg install sunstudioexpress

• Sun Studio Express 11/08: The Sun Studio Express 11/08 release is available in the OpenSolaris release repository. To install this release in your OpenSolaris 2008.05 or OpenSolaris 2008.11 environment, type:

      $ pfexec pkg install sunstudioexpress@0.2008.11,5.11-0.86:20081113T205836Z
