Operating system patches and product patches are provided for Sun Studio 12 software. These patches are required for the proper operation of the compilers and tools in this release. The Sun Studio 12 Installation Reference Guide lists both the Solaris Operating System (OS) patches included with this release.
The Sun Studio 12 patches contain performance improvements to better support for Intel's Woodcrest and Clovertown, and AMD's Barcelona chips; particularly for SPECfp type applications.
Java 2, Standard Edition (J2SE) technology required patches are provided in the J2SE installer for Sun Studio 12 software. These patches are required for the proper operation of the J2SE technology with the Solaris Operating System (OS). The Sun Studio 12 Installation Guide lists the Solaris OS patches that are included with this release.
Both the Operating system and J2SE patches are installed automatically unless you change the default selection on the Select Components page during the installation processes. For detailed information, please refer to Appendix B and Appendix C in the Sun Studio 12 Installation Guide. And remember, you can always get the latest revision of the patch from SunSolve.
