Sun Studio 9

Sun Studio 9 software makes it simple to get outstanding performance when developing C, C++, and Fortran for the Solaris Operating System. It provides a comprehensive, productive environment for developing scalable 32-bit and 64-bit applications on Sun's newest UltraSPARC IV, Intel Xeon, and AMD-based systems. With Sun Studio 9, we're also pleased to offer our first version for Linux.

Customers using prior versions including Forte 6 Update 2, Sun ONE Studio 7 Enterprise Edition and Sun Studio 8 can easily upgrade to Sun Studio 9 since it is fully compatible with these previous releases. Sun Studio 9 is full of productivity enhancements, feature improvements, and expanded platform support to make your Solaris and Linux application development more productive. These include:

• Significant improvements in SPARC performance.
• Pentium 3 and 4 optimization for the Solaris x86 32-bit platform (requires Solaris 9 4/04 or later).
• The award-winning high-performance technical computing toolset for the Solaris x86 32-bit platform, including our Fortran 90/95 compiler and the highly optimized Sun Performance Library of advanced mathematics routines.
• Shorter C and C++ compile times via automated pre-compiler headers support.
• OpenMP Autoscoping in Fortran (SPARC platform only).

For the Linux environment, Sun Studio 9 offers:

• NetBeans-based IDE with editor of choice (Vim, XEmacs, built-in)
• Distributed make (dmake)
• GUI debugger (dbx) for GCC binaries
• Performance Tools
• X-Designer GUI Builder

These components are compatible with GCC 3.2 software. Note that we are neither supplying nor providing support for these compilers.

The Sun Studio 9 product includes software for Solaris, both SPARC and x86 platforms, plus software for the Linux OS. The supplied serial number will enable any of the three versions of software.
