Support Policy

Support Policy for Sun[tm] Studio Software

Sun supports the Sun Studio software on certified hardware, databases, compilers, and operating systems only. For the list of certified products and platforms, refer to the Support Matrix and the Release Notes for the version of the product you are using. If you experience a bug or anomaly on an uncertified configuration, Sun will not be able to help you until you reproduce the anomaly on a certified Sun Studio software configuration.

Support for the Sun Studio software does not include support for your computer's operating system or third party software. Sun Developer Connection[sm] Developer Technical Support provides comprehensive developer support for a fee -- including support for Sun Studio software running on the Solaris[tm] Operating System.

For third-party software and operating systems, contact the respective vendors for support of those products. If you believe you have found a defect in Sun Studio software, we will help you if you can demonstrate that problem lies in the Sun Studio software.

Support Policy for Sun Studio Software Running With Third-Party Software

Sun supports the Sun Studio software running with the certified versions of third-party software, as documented in the Support Matrix. Sun does not certify the software of every point release of a third-party product. Sun relies on vendors to maintain interface compatibility. For example, Sun ONE Studio, release 2.0 software is certified with Oracle 8i version 8.1.6, and Sun relies on Oracle to insure that its version 8.1.6.1 will still be compatible.

Once Sun Studio software migrates to a new base release, Sun no longer supports previous versions of a third-party product. You may need to upgrade your third-party product with a "point" or patch release to resolve your issues.
